Frequently asked questions

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.

(Q) Why don't you have any coreflutes lining the foot paths and roads like the others.

(A) Besides the other candidates destroy each others core flutes, they are an eyesore and they cost a lot of money to just broadcast your face with no substance or policy. I assume voters would rather vote for specific goals & policy in their hands and letterboxes than some face on the footpath.

(Q) What do you think of feedlots within the councils region ?

(A) The Southern Downs & Granite belt have extremely varied differences both culturally and geographically. From the North Western part of the region down to a line around Boney Mountain & Wheatvale west is suited to intensive livestock. The remainder of the region, any applications for intensive farming would need to be assessed on their merits, not only taking the DPI's Environment Protection Assessments as factors of consideration but also councilors need to asses the applications merits taking town planning and effects on existing business ventures and residents into account.

(Q) What do you think of fluoridation ?

(A) I believe that the rights of the majority should be respected. This is best gauged by a plebiscite and the results of any plebiscite must be respected.

(Q) Will the councils heavy machinery all be based in Warwick or will the regions numerous depots keep operating at the current level ?

(A) I honestly believe that there is a risk of council depot in regional areas being downsized to the extent that with the loss of locally maintained machines and vehicles we will lose, a shop attendant at the grocers, a chemist shop attendant, people leaving towns causing a drop in land & house values. These are factors that need to be considered in all decisions made by the new council as the ongoing effects of poor decisions will have serious effects on many people in the long term.

(Q) What do you think of the Warwick Council's purchase of Slade Campus ?

(A) After door-knocking over 800 houses in the Warwick area and 1,500 in the whole Southern Downs region, I have not yet found one person who has volunteered an opinion of agreement with the purchase. I believe that if a viable future for the campus is not found in the next six months the sporting field should be handed over to the proposed, "Dep't of Alternative Revenue", subdivided and sold off. If twelve months after that there is no realistic plans for the remainder of the campus, the heritage and special interest buildings section should be earmarked to develop by council as a conference center and or professional offices rented out by the council. The remainder should be subdivided and sold off by the Dep't of Alternative Revenue.
